Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) was established in October 1990 as Japan's first national graduate school with its own campus and organization of education and research. Since its establishment, taking advantage of its world-class faculty, research facilities, and IT infrastructure, JAIST has promoted world’s top-level research in the field of advanced science and technology. More than 40% of JAIST's students are from overseas. JAIST gathers students with high motivation from many countries around the world. JAIST stands out among Japanese universities in terms of the rate of foreign faculty members and conducts many classes in English, enabling students to complete their degree only in English.
